The Big Diversity Challenge series of events was developed to provide an opportunity for industry organisations to experience a unique way to promote the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion in their workforce.
There is an age old saying – ‘variety is the spice of life’ – and this couldn’t be more true than in the workplace. Companies who actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion will thrive and people of all backgrounds can come together and achieve success.
Why is diversity so important?
Over recent decades barriers have been broken down and, as a society, we have come to realise and accept that not everyone fits the same mould. As a nation we are a diverse mix of genders, abilities and beliefs; so fundamentally it should follow that all employers embrace the wealth of talent available when recruiting and retaining staff.
“Adopting diversity as a business strategy will make any company an attractive career choice to all, enhance staff morale, widen skill sets and retain staff. It will reduce recruitment overheads and deliver results.”

Big Diversity Challenge aims and objectives
The first Big Diversity Challenge was launched in 2016 across the rail sector. A cross between “It’s a Knockout” and “Krypton Factor”, it is an all-inclusive event, created to provide companies with an opportunity to have fun, team build and network while undertaking mental and physical challenges in diverse teams, demonstrating the business benefits attained when companies improve diversity within their workforce.
How does the Big Diversity Challenge convey its message ?
- By showcasing and emphasising the positive difference diversity brings to the industry
- By bringing together a cross section of today’s industry, from undergraduates to CEOs
- By promoting your organisation’s own message for a more diverse and inclusive workforce
- By opening doors for those looking for a career in your industry: ‘the industry’s future’
