Our Scale New Heights: Barriers to Growth workshop, at the National Training Academy for Rail is aimed at business strategists such as managing directors and senior leaders.

A morning of highly participative workshops will follow ten-minute industry case studies presented by rail industry leaders who draw from their extensive experience about SMEs overcoming barriers in the rail sector.

 

  • Innovation – Porterbrook’s Innovation and Projects Director, Chandra Morbey is a recognised industry leader. Her work continues to enhance the development and delivery of complex engineering projects for the UK’s third largest ROSCO. We are delighted that she will discuss product and service development with a focus on innovations that formulate competitive advantage and unique selling points: how to develop new products and services, horizon-scanning, sourcing funds and intellectual property protection.

 

  • Diversification – TRB Lightweight Structures Managing Director, Richard Holland, will explain how to identify new markets and sectors for existing products/services and how to harness them.

 

  • Market Expansion – Freestone Wright’s Managing Director, David Kierton, who worked for many years as Unipart’s Business Development Director, will explain how to identify export potential for existing products and services

 

  • Internal Capability – Managing Director of Qinesis Management and Marketing Consultancy, Dr Cham Kang will present information about improving performance by evaluating business structures and processes. He will consider if refreshed finance procedures might support cash-flow, how to find funding, whether or not the right skills are in the right place in your company and what training occurs?
