‘Sustainability’ will be a topical theme for our Autumn Members Meeting as it is being held on Wednesday 10 November, just as COP26 in Glasgow draws to a close.
Confirmed speakers include Cllr Liam Robinson, who holds the Transport Portfolio for Liverpool City Region; Paul Bradshaw from Tata Steel; George Davies, Director Sustainable Development, RSSB; Noel Dolphin, Furrer+Frey, and Ed Best from Suez Recycling and Recovery Ltd.
Paul Bradshaw will be inviting the industry to show how Tata Steel can increase its use of rail; George Davies will be talking about ‘Sustainable Rail – an industry-wide approach to maximise sustainability’. Noel Dolphin will explain how freight terminals can be decarbonised through electrification (for loading freight trains using retractable overhead lines).
The meeting, also including our (short) AGM, will be held at Suites Hotel and Spa, Knowsley, Ribblers Lane, Knowsley, Liverpool, L34 9HA. We will also hold our usual informal networking dinner at the hotel the evening before (Tues 9 November).
The meeting will start at 9am and finish about 1pm when lunch is served. There is then an optional visit to a nearby SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK Ltd facility.
