Rail continues to be one of the UK’s major growth sectors, with multi-billion pound investment planned to support continued passenger demand. The agenda reaches from new rail franchises and massive investment in Derby station, to the hot debates on electrification and HS2.
Derby is one of the best rail-connected cities in the UK and remains home to Europe’s largest rail cluster – the only UK city where trains can be designed, developed, built, tested and maintained. Competition is growing, as more companies are attracted into the UK and pressure builds on the skills requirement.
Marketing Derby is partnering with the East Midlands Chamber to hold a Derby business consultation session, where the strengths, assets and opportunities that exist within rail – for passengers, customers and suppliers – will be explored to develop a Derby-based perspective on the big issues.
