When the Rail Sector Deal was launched in 2019 Rail Forum Midlands was asked to lead the delivery of two Midlands pilots:
- one on shared apprenticeships and schools engagement and
- one focussing on SME growth through collaboration.
We are delighted to confirm that we are ready to launch the first SME Growth Through Collaboration Challenge with a number of rolling stock clients. The challenge itself will focus on ideas and innovations for light-weighting of rolling stock: both new and existing.
The challenge is being supported by Bombardier Transportation, Hitachi Rail, Porterbrook and Siemens providing SMEs with the opportunity to engage with several potential customers.
Participating organisations may wish to focus on specific aspects of the vehicles for example
– interiors
– drive systems
– HVAC systems
– specific components
however these are just a starter for ten and SMEs may have their own ideas!
We would strongly encourage all those involved in, or seeking to enter, the rolling stock supply chain to attend this one hour session. You can book your place below.
This event will launch the Challenge for SMEs to respond to and will comprise:
– brief overview of the concept from the Rail Sector Deal
– explanation of the challenge itself: what clients are looking for, specific opportunities
– outline of the process: how to get involved, how RFM can/will help; evaluation process and so on
– Q&A
This event is open to all SMEs working or seeking to work in the rail sector. For those new to rail RFM will help you partner with existing rail supply chain companies.
The launch event will be held via Zoom. Since the start of April we have held over 30 successful events on Zoom involving several hundred participants. Full details of how to access Zoom will be provided prior to the event.
We can accommodate 100 participants – if the event is full please email elaineclark@midlandsrail.co.uk to be added to a reserve list and to be kept informed. If we are vastly oversubscribed we will aim to provide more places or repeat the event.
