Join us on 13th March for our 5th joint ‘rail freight day’ with our strategic partner, Rail Freight Group and lets explore what is happening in freight together!

This event returns to Loughborough, and this time we hope we are not foiled by snow as we look to venture for a site tour of Tarmac’s facility as our post tour activity!

We are thrilled to host a variety of speakers ensuring that your attendance will bring you up to date on freight developments, challenges and opportunities:

Session 1

This session will set context of wider freight activity and introduce some user perspectives as well as explore freight in uncertainty with unique insight on the aid-train.

  • Maggie Simpson OBE, Rail Freight Group
  • Zoe McLernon, GBR TT
  • Vincent Barry, General Manager – Operational Quality, Groupe CAT UK
  • Peter Gibbons MBE, Network Rail

Session 2

Following the break, we welcome a selection of speakers to explore topics including speeding up freight, ETCS and its impacts on drivers, as well as a step into innovation with an update on the Freight Innovation Cluster and how digital solutions are opening up freight path availability.

  • Dave Burley, Rail Operations Group
  • Nicolas Edwards, Deutsche Bahn, and RSSB Rail Freight Operations Group
  • Chris Swan, Tarmac
  • Alisdair Ritchie, Connected Places Catapult
  • Martin Gleadow, Velociti Solutions

Attendees can expect all the usual benefits of a Rail Forum event:  delegate list in advance, roll call for members, Q&A panels and extended breaks for networking.

Event Partners

Our event partners make these events happen and we are delighted to introduce them:

“We collaborate to provide an optimised rail solution for a client’s projects or programmes. Through feasibility and detailed business case development we will advise, manage or operate your complete logistics solution.”

Mick Tinsley, Fishbone

“We’re supporting this event because freight is a critical part of our rail network. But can be overlooked when it comes to aspects of policy and technology implementation. We believe that a greater focus on freight will help us unlock many benefits across the rail network, like operational efficiency and cost savings. Take technology, for example, where we know that solutions such as SaaS-connected, forward-facing CCTV can save freight operators huge amounts of time and money when it comes to incident investigation, service release and fault resolution.”

Geoff Pulford, Business Development Manager – Rail Systems, Journeo

Following the event there will also be the opportunity to visit Tarmac’s quarry at Mountsorrel.
