The East Midlands is a vitally important area for rail freight. In construction materials, retail and intermodal and in rail supply chain, the region supports a vibrant and growing sector. With the new franchise in development, and plans for Control Period 6 underway, it is timely to consider how rail freight can continue to thrive and be part of the region’s railway success story.
The Rail Freight Group, Tarmac and RFM have come together to bring you our East Midlands Rail Freight Day, with invited speakers from the Department for Transport, Network Rail, and from a range of rail freight customers. The day will provide the opportunity for key stakeholders to learn more about the role that rail freight has in the region and for suppliers to understand some of the key issues and challenges faced by freight to which they may be able to offer solutions.
Following the conclusion of the formal presentations and discussions there will be the opportunity to see rail freight in action with a tour of Mountsorrel Quarry.

Please note that when booking your place you will need to book separately for the quarry tour so that we can plan for the appropriate numbers. The tour will be undertaken in 4×4 vehicles hence individual PPE is not a requirement.
