Unlocking Innovation events provide a place where innovators can mix and exchange ideas. Speakers include the Infrastructure Managers and Tier 1s setting out the challenges they face and SMEs get to present and pitch on the same stage.

RIA has refined the four technology areas where the industry could benefit from the introduction of new products and services, and where the supply chain has a real capability; Materials, Automation, Data and Energy. Some of these areas address immediately realisable change and others offer medium to long term potential for innovation.

What Digitalisation creates though is Data – new types of Data, more accurate Data and as a result a host of new opportunities to use this Data for new things. The supply chain is bursting with ideas on how this Data can be put to good use.

Unlocking Innovation – Data in rail recognises this opportunity and simply seeks to get the right people in the room to allow everyone to see what Data is becoming available, who could use it, and for what useful purpose. The event will look across the whole industry and consider the whole lifecycle of projects and assets. This is a very wide scope and as such the event is intended to make delegates aware of what is already happening and what is becoming possible.

There will be opportunities to see the work that the UKRRIN CES is doing in signalling modelling and simulation.

The keynote speaker is Eifion Jenkins, Initiative Lead for Data at Transport Systems Catapult and other speakers will come from Network Rail and Rail Delivery Group, as well as suppliers and SMEs. Delegates will get a chance to see the modelling and simulation facilities at CEDS, as well as to take part in a consultation on how we can better use data in the Rail Industry.
