Launch of the UK Rail Industry Training Trust

UKRITT (UK Rail Industry Training Trust), Rail Technology Magazine’s own charity, will reach out to young people to influence and educate them in the wide and diverse range of exciting career paths available in rail from engineering to operations and from track to train.

The charity’s first activities will be to put on a series of engagement and education events for young people around the country to promote the railway as a career option, and to explain more about the training and qualifications and apprenticeships available. This will consist of regional heats culminating in a national final.

UKRIA is a new and exciting rail industry awards ceremony like no other. It seeks to reward those organisations, large or small, who are making a significant contribution to the effective and efficient running of the UK rail industry.

The inaugural awards next year will provide an ideal setting for businesses to network with some of the most influential decision makers responsible for running the UK rail industry, as well as generating business and making new contacts. It takes place on 20th February 2014 at The Brewery in London.

The evening will also be a fundraising extravaganza for UKRITT. Rail Technology Magazine has initially donated £5,000 to the trust, and has pledged a further 20% of all revenue generated from the UK Rail Industry Awards. This has enabled UKRITT to set a fundraising target of £45,000 for the first event, although this figure is likely to increase as support continues to grow. The evening will also play host to a charity casino where there will be an array of prizes on offer and100% of all revenue generated by the casino will go to UKRITT .
