This year’s Rail Safety Week Conference will take place across two days at Rail Live on 18thand 19th June. This means delegates can attend the sessions most relevant to them and benefit from the opportunity to also dip into the wider exhibition and demonstrations taking place at the show. We aren’t taking specific bookings for the conference if you want to attend all you need to do is register to attend Rail Live here.
The Rail Safety Week Conference will take place in a dedicated theatre in Zone W of Rail Live and will be well signposted at the event.
Day 1 | Wednesday 18th June
(Morning session from 10.30am)
This session will focus on workforce safety with a specific spotlight on people/plant interface and interactions.
Speakers include:
- Rob Fisher, Chief Executive of UK Materials Handling Association (with guests!)
- Keith Oakes, Head of SHEQ and Josh Gardner, Technical Manager, Finning UK
- Lynsey Gilfillan, HSQE Director, Story Plant
- Liam Johnston, Executive Director, Railway Mission who will focus on “Psychological Safety in the Rail Supply Chain: A Foundation for People, Performance, and Purpose”
(Afternoon session from 2:00pm)
This session will focus on occupational and mental health.
Speakers include:
- ORR who will talk about their “Priorities for Occupational Health in Rail”
- RSSB addressing the key causes of occupational health issues in rail

Day 2 | Wednesday 19th June

This session will focus on safety in relation to passengers and our wider community.
Speakers include:
- Keynote Address: Richard Hines, HM Chief Inspector of Railways/Director of Railway Safety, ORR
- Campaign for Better Transport
- Network Rail
- Community Rail Network
