Rendel has acquired the remaining shares of Aspec Engineering Pty Ltd (ASPEC), a multi-disciplinary engineering company based in Australia specialising in material handling, ports and infrastructure. The acquisition aligns with the transition of ASPEC’s leadership to three directors, Adam Mayers, Jeff Brook, and Mark Biggs, each with over a decade of experience at the company. Meanwhile Richard Morgan, who has led ASPEC since 2003 and guided the company through Rendel’s acquisition and integration over the past two years, has stepped down as managing director. The occasion was celebrated by an official visit to Sydney from Ingerop’s president, Yves Metz and international director, Christophe Blanc; and Rendel’s Vardaman Jones.
In 2018, Rendel established Rendel Ingerop Pty Ltd in Sydney and acquired the controlling interest of ASPEC in December 2022 to enhance its position and expand its reach across Australia. Since then, Rendel Ingerop and ASPEC have collaborated on multiple projects, leveraging their combined technical expertise and market relationships. ASPEC and Rendel are currently working together on the detailed design of Lumsden Point General Cargo Facility. Their previous partnership includes delivering an independent check of Hay Point Berth 2, SABR independent check and the detailed design of Stanley Point SP3. Matthew Lyons, Rendel Ingerop’s director for industry, is based in ASPEC’s Perth office. Plans are underway to open additional offices together in 2025 further expanding ASPEC’s existing network in Brisbane (QLD), Perth (WA), Newcastle, and Wollongong (NSW).
