What is Servitization?
Servitization is a transformation process through which a manufacturing, or technology-innovating, company changes its business model to compete through a bundle of products and services, rather than products alone.
What is this event going to cover?
An introduction to Servitization and Advanced Services will be provided – covering the tools, models and frameworks that the Advanced Services Group have shared with 400+ manufacturing businesses – both in the UK and internationally. Case studies of exemplar businesses that have significantly grown their revenues through the introduction of new services will also be provided. Iain McKechnie, Director of Strategic Partnserships at Aston Business School will chair the webinar and the special guest for the webinar will be Professor Mike Hulme, Director at Severn Valley Railway and Ex-Managing Director at Alstom.
You will be able to leave the webinar with a clear understanding of what Servitization is, and isn’t, and be able to consider the use of new tools, models and frameworks in your day to day operations.

Iain McKechnie
| Director of Strategic Partnerships at The Advanced Services Group, Aston Business School UK |
|
At the Advanced Services Group, within Aston Business School, Iain leads on activities that bring new business models and services-led business growth together – using research coming from the academics in the business school. Iain primarily works with a range of manufacturing businesses in the B2B product market – those that are seeking to develop ‘X-as-a-Service’ where opportunities are identified that reduce effort, resources or cost (owning a product) and increase availability of the product/service and customer satisfaction (by moving to using the service). Iain’s career began at the National Engineering Laboratory in Scotland as technical R&D engineer (20-years), which included 5-years working with the UK Government on R&D funding strategies for manufacturing firms in the UK. Since joining the Advanced Services Group in 2012, he has worked with over 250 SMEs to help them change their business model to take advantage of the benefits that Servitization research and practice (adding services to support a product in use) brings to both manufacturer and customer alike. Iain is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, holds post-graduate qualifications in management/TQM and, in 2016, was awarded ‘Freeman Citizen of Glasgow’ status for his work in the engineering, R&D and manufacturing. |
