UK rail maintenance firm MTMS has underlined its proud health and safety reputation for its work at depots all over the country by picking up a prestigious industry accolade.
The company, which is based in Moira, Leicestershire, has been awarded accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.
MTMS maintains equipment at more than half of the UK’s rail depots, working on behalf of leading industry names such as First MTR South-Western Railway, Govia ThamesLink Railway, Arriva and Siemens.
Its application for SafeContractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business and the accreditation will enhance the company’s ability to win new contracts.
Matt Forst, managing director of MTMS, said: “We’re very proud of our health and safety record working in an industry where being safe and aware on site is of critical importance.
“This accolade from Alcumus underlines our commitment to ensuring our engineers and staff go about their work in the correct manner by following the health and safety policies that we have put in place.”
Gemma Archibald, divisional CEO of Alcumus SafeContractor, said: “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.
“More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that MTMS has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.”
