The TRIG Programme is the Department for Transport’s flagship innovation funding programme, delivered by Connected Places Catapult, which provides a mechanism to identify and support early-stage proof-of-concept ideas to de-risk emerging transport solutions.

The event will be an opportunity for transport policy leads and wider industry stakeholders to see the outputs of and find out more about the 67 TRIG projects that have been funded this year across six challenge areas. There are a number of rail-related projects and other innovations with potential to be transferrable to rail.

TRIG challenges covered:

  • Maritime Decarbonisation;
  • Transport Resilience to Severe Weather and Flooding;
  • Future of Freight;
  • Local Transport Decarbonisation;
  • Improving the Rail Passenger Experience;
  • and an ‘open call’ category.

The project teams will showcase their innovations in the exhibition area, and there will be interactive panel sessions on the topic of ‘Commercialising Transport Innovation’ and networking opportunities. A draft agenda is available on the registration link.

The Rt Hon Jesse Norman MP and Professor Sarah Sharples, Chief Scientific Adviser for the Department for Transport will be joining us on the day.

Please register to attend using the ‘General Admission’ ticket option: TRIG 2022 Showcasing & Networking Event. Feel free to share the invite with any relevant colleagues – however, as this is a closed-event, we would appreciate if you could let us know who you’d like to extend it to.

We would be delighted if you could join us for the Transport Research Innovation Grant (TRIG) 2022 Showcase & Networking event, delivered by Connected Places Catapult on behalf of the Department for Transport (DfT).

The showcase will be an opportunity for transport policy leads and wider industry stakeholders to find out the results of the innovative projects that have been developed as part of the TRIG 2022 programme, which address a range of transport challenges such as local decarbonisation, promoting freight intermodality, tackling the impact of climate change, improving rail passenger experience etc. The event will also promote networking to foster future opportunities and collaborations between the innovation community and industry stakeholders.

The TRIG 2022 projects will showcase their innovations in the exhibition area and there will be interactive panel sessions and presentations.

If you are a TRIG 2022 project team member, please choose either the “TRIG Project Members” ticket or the “TRIG Showcase” ticket (the latter is if you’d like a free stand at the event). Everyone else should opt for the ‘General Admission’ ticket.
