As part of the Department for International Trade’s popular series of business development visits, they are delighted to announce this round table event in which Vanja Lisic, Trade Adviser for the Department for International Trade at the British Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia will be visiting us to discuss forthcoming rail infrastructure opportunities in the region.
About Slovenia

Slovenia is a central European market with a population of 2 million. Its railway lines lie at the intersection of 10th European corridor, linking Lyon- Venice-Ljubljana-Budapest and thus represent a major connection for both, passenger and freight.
The Project

Divaca Koper is the second track of that corridor and serves the Port of Koper linking it with hinterland Slovenia and Europe. The project is estimated at 1.2 bn GBP and is planned to go ahead at the end of 2017, with tenders for construction works, and supply of equipment etc. The track itself will be 30 km long, but is made complex by a specific and demanding terrain including 8 tunnels, 2 viaducts, 2 bridges and 1 gallery. The project will be financed by the Slovenian government, EU and European Investment bank.
