Diamond Rail Services, a leading provider of innovative railway solutions, is underway with revamping the Cross Country 170 Fleet at West Midlands Trains, Tyseley.
The Front of House Project will provide an uplift to the saloons and cabs, enhancing the experience for both passengers and crew members whilst the units await their full refurbishment. With a 1-day-turnaround, Diamond Rail Services are giving 29 x CL170 a new lease of life with seat repairs, interior repair and painting, labels, vinyl, and grab handles replacements.
Daniel Millington, Depot Production Manager at West Midlands Trains said: “The XC CL170 FOH works completed by Diamond will provide an uplift on the fleet, both within the saloons for passengers and in the cabs for train crew. New seat covers, aluminium grab handles and internal painting, amongst other works, will really brighten up the units and provide a clear visual improvement. Diamond were chosen for this project due to their previous good work at Tyseley on the WMT CL170 Delap units that were cascaded to EMR earlier on this year, along with their ability to complete works on a 1-day turn around, allowing us to maintain service delivery. We’re now around 35% through the programme and the team is producing fantastic results, with great feedback already received from both colleagues and customers’’.
Sarah Hardy, Project Manager, said: “Delivering the front of house project for West Midlands Trains has been an incredibly rewarding journey. We were driven by a shared commitment to redefine passengers and crew members experiences whilst elevating the standards of rail travel. The collaborative efforts of our dedicated team, coupled with the visionary approach of West Midlands Trains and Cross Country, made this transformation possible. I am immensely proud of the dedication and work completed so far’’.
