A conformity mark indicates conformity with the applicable requirements for products sold in a country or territory and Great Britain has its own legal framework for the sale of goods. The UKCA marking became part of UK law on 31 December 2020, though with extended deadlines, the CE product mark has been accepted as a valid alternative. UK conformity assessment marking (UKCA) applies to placing goods on the market in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) and in Northern Ireland, the use of CE and the new UKNI marking is mandatory.
In November 2022, the UK Government extended the deadline for a further period allowing the continued recognition of the CE product marking for most industrial goods in Great Britain for a further 2 years until the end of 2024, allowing business to use either UKCA or CE markings or both, for most goods being placed on the GB market. Different arrangements apply for in sectors such as Building/Construction products, rail and marine equipment and medical devices.
This short webinar provides an update on the measures that have been introduced by the additional extended deadline and the actions that businesses need to take to ensure compliance with current and future responsibilities. It’s important that manufacturers, suppliers, and employers understand the UKCA and UKNI marking requirements. For manufacturers, the rules impact what markings they should be placing on their products; for suppliers, it affects what they can and can’t supply at certain points in time; and for employers, it affects what they can and can’t purchase from suppliers.
The Department for Business and Trade will provide an overview of how the requirements for the UKCA mark will apply, and related ongoing compliance. We are hopeful that colleagues from other Departments will also be on hand.
Attend this event to understand…how to comply with the extended UK regulatory framework for goods, specifically in regard to product and machinery labelling.
Ideally suited for… those within manufacturing who are responsible for business strategy, export, import, leadership and operations.
