AmcoGiffen Launches Temporary Works Academy

We’re pleased to announce the launch of the AmcoGiffen Temporary Works Academy.

At AmcoGiffen, we take Temporary Works Management seriously, recognising it as a crucial part of our identified high-risk activities. The academy will further enhance our commitment to safety by promoting reduced-risk behaviours and mitigating at-risk behaviours, ensuring that our projects are executed with the highest standards of excellence and care. It will also establish a community of Temporary Works experts who can support and learn from one another, fostering collaboration and shared expertise across our organisation.

The content of the Temporary Works Coordinators Academy is intended to ensure all AmcoGiffen TWCs are adequately trained, competent to fulfil the role, and have the practical skills alongside the formal CITB two-day temporary works coordinators course. In-person training days are a mix of presentations, interactive sessions and assessments to embed learning and are delivered internally by our regional designated individuals for Temporary Works.

The training days are followed up with and complemented by a mentoring scheme and TWCs forum, to enable continuous development and sharing of best practice. The academy training days are split over two days, with day one covering the more fundamental aspects of Temporary Works coordination and day two covering more advanced technical and soft skills associated with Temporary Works management.

The content includes:

  • Practical Implementation of AmcoGiffen Temporary Works procedure
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Understanding Temporary Works risks
  • Using proprietary systems
  • Change management
  • Non-technical skills
  • Assurance and auditing

Our academy is more than just a training programme – it’s an investment in our Temporary Works Coordinators (TWCs), designed to empower them with the confidence and skills needed to lead on the Temporary Works aspects of our projects. Our goal is to provide comprehensive support and guidance to all our CITB-trained TWCs across our business. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation, we aim to uphold our reputation for excellence and ensure the delivery of safe and successful projects.
