Rail Forum is pleased to announce that Rail Safety Week (RSW) 2025 will run from Monday 16th – Sunday 22nd June.
RSW is an industry wide and industry led initiative focused on rail safety for all – people who work on the railway, customers that use our railway and those that can be affected by our operations. The aim of the dedicated week is to raise the profile and importance of rail safety across the industry and society as a whole, sharing best practice and working collaboratively.
Supporting RSW, Rail Forum is delighted to announce that RAIL & Rail Live has signed up as the Headline Sponsor for RSW 2025, with our official RSW conference taking place during Rail Live at Porterbrook’s Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre – more on this to be announced soon.
Dickon Ross, Editor at RAIL Magazine, said: “Safety has improved dramatically since the first passenger railway ran 200 years ago but it’s vital the industry never rests in its efforts to improve safety for passengers and staff alike.
“Developments in technology as well as practices and procedures offer more ways to do this in the future, making zero fatalities and injuries challenging but possible. With the 200-year anniversary of the railways this year, it’s so important to see how far we have come and celebrate – and that’s why we’re proud to be sponsoring Rail Safety Week for 2025!”
Elaine Clark OBE, CEO at Rail Forum and Rail Safety Week Lead, said: “We are thrilled to have RAIL & Rail Live as our Headline Sponsor for this year’s Rail Safety Week; their support enables us to build on the initiative and increase awareness across the industry.
“RSW is for everyone, and we would like to express our sincere thanks to all the organisations who have previously supported and continue to do so, as well as to those who are planning to get involved in 2025 and for years to come.”
Rail Forum adopted RSW from its original founders at the start of 2023 and each year we are amazed by how organisations from all across the industry have embraced the initiative. In 2024, a phenomenal 215 organisations got involved; a percentage increase of 54% from 2023. Rail Forum are excited to see the breadth and depth of activities this year, with organisations encouraged to start their planning now.
Simon Higgens, Chair of the Rail Safety Week Steering Group, said: “Now is a great time to start planning your events and activities; if you’re looking for inspiration, visit the RSW website – there’s no shortage of ideas! Once you are ready to share your plans, please make use of the online form which is designed to make submitting them quick and easy.
“The RSW team looks forward to promoting your support for this important week which brings rail safety to the spotlight and celebrates your contributions. Safety is, and always will be, a key priority for our industry and it is important that we all continue to learn, share best practice and play our part to ensure everyone gets home safe every day. Let’s continue to build safety together and make RSW 2025 the best RSW yet.”
