Porterbrook, the UK’s leading rolling stock financier and asset management company, has today confirmed Ian Prosser CBE as the new independent Chair of the Porterbrook Safety Committee.
Ian will be responsible for reviewing the company’s approach to maintaining a safety focussed culture across its whole asset portfolio, consistent with the high standards required within the UK rail industry.
He served as HM Chief Inspector of Railways for over fifteen years, retiring in June 2024, and succeeds Jim Hagan who has stepped down from the committee after six years in post. Jim is the Head of Safety at Eurostar.
Ian Prosser CBE said: “I am delighted to have been asked to chair Porterbrook’s Safety Committee. Under Mary Grant’s leadership, the company has shown a real passion for improving standards. With a strong health and safety performance already in place, I believe we can now work together to reach even higher levels.”
Mary Grant, CEO of Porterbrook, said: “We look forward to the wealth of experience that Ian will bring to this position. His unwavering dedication to making the railway a safer place during his career has been commendable, and Ian has rightly set a high standard across the industry.”
“I would also like to thank Jim Hagan for the key role he has played over the last six years improving safety across the business. We all wish him the very best for the future.”
