Katrick Technologies became the latest company to collaborate with the Global Centre of Rail Excellence on sustainable rail innovation, signing a cooperation agreement in South Wales.
The two companies have agreed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will see Katrick Technologies work with GCRE to demonstrate the future of net zero rail mobility with their innovative Wind Panel technology.
Katrick Technologies are a fast-growing Greentech company focussed on innovation and R&D based in the UK. They are an exciting innovator in the zero-carbon market, designing products that will contribute to industrial decarbonisation.
They are also working with Edinburgh Airport to decarbonise airports with their Wind Panel technology.
The Global Centre of Rail Excellence is a new, purpose-built facility being constructed in South Wales that will become Europe’s leading centre for rail and sustainable mobility innovation, providing a range of services unique across the continent. GCRE will become the UK’s first ever net zero in operation railway, supporting the innovations needed to decarbonise the UK and European railway.
The two companies signed their partnership at the GCRE site in South Wales recently.
Simon Jones, Chief Executive at GCRE Ltd, said: “We are delighted to sign this partnership with Katrick Technologies and to begin what we see as a long-term relationship at the Global Centre of Rail Excellence site. The missions of our organisations are already very well aligned as we both look to utilise innovation to speed up decarbonisation and support our path to net zero.
“The work of Katrick Technologies is at the cutting edge of zero carbon innovation and at GCRE we want to help them push those boundaries even further by making available our unique infrastructure and site for their extensive research, development and testing.
“In addition to this, we see opportunities for us to help Katrick Technologies showcase their product range at the site, helping them expand their business to new domestic and international markets.
“It was great to show the Katrick team the GCRE site and to expand our conversations about what is possible at the unique facility we will have here.
“This agreement shows once again the very significant commercial momentum behind the GCRE vision as a site for world class technology development. Renewable energy will play a big part in what we will do at the facility, with innovation at the heart of that.”
Neil Midgley, Commercial and Engineering Director at Katrick Technologies said: “Partnering with the Global Centre of Rail Excellence is a great step forward for both the development of our technology and the future of sustainable rail mobility.
“Their site will provide an incredible opportunity to demonstrate the power of ground-level winds and our Wind Panel technology across rail networks and industries globally, marking a major step towards Net Zero and industrial decarbonisation.”
