West Midlands Railway: Station improvements
A host of projects continue to be delivered by our property team as part of our multi-million pound investment programme. Recent upgrades across the West Midlands Railway network include:
- The continuing rollout of our upgraded Digital Customer Information Systems – among the sites which have had new LED information screens installed are Wolverhampton, Perry Barr and University as well as an additional upgrade at Birmingham Snow Hill
- Construction work continues at five brand new stations for the region, with Pineapple Road, Moseley and Kings Heath on the Camp Hill Line as well as Willenhall and Darlaston
- The extension of CCTV and Help Points; Adderley Park, Jewellery Quarter, Acocks Green and Hampton-in-Arden are among the most recent stations to receive the upgrades
- New LED lighting columns will be installed at the ends of platforms towards the end of this year at a number of stations including Acocks Green, Danzey and Earlswood
- Tactile paving works to warn passengers of the proximity of the platform edge will be completed at stations including Wolverhampton and Tame Bridge Parkway in coming months
- The new cycle hub at Wolverhampton has been completed and will be operational soon
- Work is continuing to extend the operational length of Platform 4 at Kings Norton
London Northwestern Railway: Station improvements
Among the recent station upgrades across the London Northwestern Railway network are:
- New digital information screens at Milton Keynes, Northampton and Watford Junction – we are exploring new functionality the screens give us with feedback from staff and customers
- Upgraded CCTV will be installed at Tring and Rugeley Trent Valley soon, while Coleshill Parkway is among the stations to receive a new Help Point
- Upgraded accessibility features are being introduced at Apsley and Kings Langley stations under the Access for All programme
- Tactile paving will be installed at Watford Junction, Wolverton and Aspley Guise soon
