Tidyco Production Director, Philip Mason, will be attempting to run (walk and possibly crawl) 100 miles within a timeframe of 24 hours – commencing his expedition from Warrington and finishing in Shardlow, just outside of Derby, all for charity.
His aim is to raise £5,000 which will be donated to the Burton branch of the Cancer Services department of the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. The reason he has chosen this particular organisation is that because a couple of Tidyco employees have been service users recently and due to the outstanding and compassionate care they have received, Philip has decided that he would like to repay them for their hard work.
Philip started his training over six months ago and has got a number of Derby-based businesses and people on board to assist him with his journey, including Sarah Ball (Balls2Marketing), Dean Jackson (HUUB Design), Derby University, Greg Whyte, Phil Rees and MAG Orthotics to name a few.
He will begin at Warrington Bank Quay station in Warrington and cover seven miles to Preston Brook; the start of the Trent and Mersey Canal. Then follow the entire length of the Trent and Mersey Canal to Shardlow in Derbyshire which is a further 93 miles. He will cover 100 miles in total, which is just shy of four marathons. When asked about how he was feeling, Philip had this to say; ”Doing 100 miles in 24 hours or less is always going to be difficult on the day and also during the training. When I am struggling, I always think back to the people who are currently battling with cancer and the treatment that they have to go through. If running 100 miles and raising money to help provide better equipment for our local hospital it will have been worth effort.“
Philip is on the lookout for eight businesses who would like to support the challenge and be shirt and event sponsors. If you would like to become a corporate partner, please email marketing@tidyco.co.uk. We are also grateful for all individuals who would like to sponsor or support him on this worthy cause. All proceeds will go to Burton branch of the Cancer Services department of the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.
