Furrer+Frey and Greensward Academy teamed up for an amazing Industrial Cadet project, supported by the Engineering Development Trust. The project? Empowering 6th Form students with real-world engineering challenges, tackling issues head-on to find innovative solutions. The students developed an in-line remote monitoring device, measuring tension in electrification equipment to prevent heat wave failures. The student’s outstanding efforts were recognized and rewarded at the prestigious EDT Awards, where they were crowned champions of “Most Innovative Project”!
The celebration didn’t stop there! Thanks to LNER, the students had the incredible opportunity to train on their train simulator at Kings Cross Station! Furrer+Frey has been igniting the spark of STEM in schools through the Engineering Development Trust for nearly a decade. They’re not just solving real railway engineering problems but also inspiring a new generation of students.
