The manufacturing techniques are currently employed in the aviation industry for lightweight seat back tray tables. DOY Design believes there is an opportunity to develop this approach in the rail sector to improve perceived quality, reduce weight and CO2-footprint.
The combination of moulded SIMORAIL sheets (certified according to EN45545 and NFPA130) with structural parts or foams provides extremely robust components at a fraction of the weight (savings > 50%) compared to some of the more traditional manufacturing methods and materials currently used in the industry. The manufacturing method gives Designers greater freedom to integrate detail and lift the perceived value of the product. In Addition, the use of regrind supports the goals of sustainable rail interior solutions.
There is a comprehensive choice of colours and textures available with no additional surface finishing required. As the colour runs through the SIMORAIL sheets it naturally reduces the visual impact of in-service surface damage.
Please drop by the SIMONA Booth 500 at Hall 1.1 where you can see an example of the tray table and meet the SIMONA Group and DOY Design team.
