Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, incredible 15 times Paralympic medal winner and champion for the disabled, is to be the host of this year’s Dinner at the Roundhouse at Derby on Thursday October 18th 2018.
Tanni’s courage, enthusiasm and professionalism has inspired thousands, and she is a well known TV personality. Since her elevation to the House of Lords, Tanni has championed the cause of the disabled at the centre of Government – and she also has strong views on railways!
Now retired, Tanni is chair of ukactive, President of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations and sits on the boards of the BBC and Transport for London. She was elevated to the House of Lords in 2010 to serve as a crossbench peer with specialist interest in disability, health, sport and education.
Now in its eighth successful year, Dinner at the Roundhouse is the UK’s flagship railway networking event, and over half the 600 seats have already been sold. The 2018 Dinner at the Roundhouse on Thursday October 18th is the climax of a full day when senior figures from the UK and overseas will be visiting the city for the Rail Forum Midlands annual conference, which has its own top speakers.
It will highlight the work the body and its 150 business members employing 25,000 people are doing to support the development of the next generation of skilled workforce, growing exports and accelerating and supporting innovation.
Dinner at the Roundhouse attracts top keynote speakers to the historic surroundings of the 1839 Roundhouse that is now within Derby College, and is normally a sell-out event. It provides the unique chance for convivial informal networking until 1.30am.
The audience includes many of the UK’s major transport decision makers, including Government ministers, MPs, worldwide manufacturers, passenger and freight train operators, rolling stock leasing companies, suppliers. Recent celebrity hosts have included Brian Blessed, Sir Ranulph Fiennes and John Motson, so top quality entertainment is guaranteed.
